The Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for the Performing Arts presents The Smokers Blues Band with special guest Chris Stevens!
The Smokers Blues Band:
The Smokers Blues Band are an all original indie blues-rock touring band from Peoria Illinois, a well known industrial river city in between Chicago and St. Louis. The band consists of Dan Galletti (vocals and guitar), Brett David (vocals and guitar), Mike Boehle (bass), Tony Mata (drums), and Hal Duckett (blues harp). The band made their debut after winning the central Illinois "Road to Memphis" challenge in 2014. Their eclectic style has been described as an edgy unique blend of modern blues-rock and soul with traditional elements from classic blues legends. The Smokers focus on memorable songwriting, creative improvisation, and pure energy while on stage. They have opened for various artists including Steve Gorman from the Black Crowes, Ana Popovic, and Reverend Horton Heat. Most notably they have performed onstage twice with the legendary Buddy Guy at Legends in Chicago. They currently have released two albums which are available for download on both iTunes and Amazon.
Chris Stevens:
Chris embraces the challenge of both crafting and covering songs with a focus on melody blended with the flair of skilled musicianship. Years of playing ‘cover songs’ and learning the signature licks of Eric Clapton, Freddie King, Carlos Santana, Duane Allman, Buddy Guy and many others help Chris bring a passionate, improvisational style of guitar and vocals to the studio and live performance stage. Chris co-founded the successful Blues-Rock trio, LIAR’S DICE. He co-wrote, played the guitars and sang on the self-titled album. His latest CD—Blues & Beyond—from guitarist—vocalist—songwriter, Chris Stevens, the corn-belt kid from Illinois, cooks a simmering stew: one pound of CLASSIC HITS with a huge helping of TODAY.
