Hartford House Band: Open Air Acoustic Sessions (No Cover)

  • Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for the Performing Arts 1327 East Kelly Avenue Peoria Heights, IL, 61616 United States (map)

If you live in the Midwest you need to know John Hartford. You're invited to come enjoy this beautiful tribute to the legacy he left behind with fresh air, craft beer, and acoustic music from some of the best musicians this side of the Mississippi. No cover.

Friday, September 27, kicks off the inaugural performance of the Hartford House Band Open Air Popup Sessions, a new series at the Betty Jayne that pops up when the weather is nice and the nana wall begs to be wide open to the fresh air. These sessions are open air, early sets (late afternoons on weekends and happy hour sessions during the week)...flavored by amazing craft beer on tap and a full bar. Hosts Nathan Taylor and Daniel Watkins will feature some of the best folk and bluegrass musicians in the Midwest, all paying tribute to the legendary John Hartford with songs he wrote and songs he loved.

John Hartford won Grammy awards in three different decades, recorded a catalog of more than 30 albums, and wrote one of the most popular songs of all time, Gentle On My Mind. He was a regular guest and contributor on the Glen Campbell Good Time Hour and the Smothers Brothers Show.

He added music and narration to Ken Burns’ landmark Civil War series, and was an integral part of the hugely popular “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack and Down From The Mountain concert tour.

He also happened to be a well-known steamboat captain who sang songs of the river we all know and love:

Get to know him better here.

Come hang and enjoy these laid-back sessions with us. Cheers!
