Celebrate the holidays at The Betty Jayne with Jazz to the World: A Special Holiday Concert with Judy Page Project!
From singing in her basement to being an "Ikette" for Ike Turner, to opening for Ray Charles and Preston Jackson & Friends, Judy Page has traveled many places and seen many things.
That's where her music displays the joys and heartaches she's experienced throughout her life.
Her performances are intrinsically emotional. “I’ve bottled that emotion up and I let it go.” In this regard, music has been a healing force for Judy. “That music is my man, my love. It won’t hurt me—it won’t break my heart,” she says. “Music just makes me happy.”
Judy loves intimate, real audiences, ones that she can connect and relate to as well as to see their own life story in her music. One of her favorites, is Shirley Horn’s “Here’s To Life”—a modern-day jazz standard. “No complaints and no regrets / I still believe in chasing dreams and placing bets / But I have learned that all you give is all you get / So give it all you got.”
Her dynamic alto voice conveys the beating heart of a song and leads the audience to feel it, as well. Judy’s diverse setlist will encourage all to dance at the Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for Performing Arts (1327 E Kelly Ave, Peoria Heights) at 7:00pm.
